Description

Significant noise occurs at a specific train speed of 70km/h in a section of the Airport east of Hourui on Shenzhen Metro Line 1 (Luobao line). It was established that the pin to pin mode of the rail was in resonance with the 70 km/h train speed.

Solution

To mitigate the noise radiating from the rail, a rail damper was developed together by Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd and Zhejiang Tiantie Industry Ltc. The purpose was to damp the dominant frequencies of the rail at 400 Hz and 700 Hz. It should also balance the wave-shaped wear on the rail surface and has improved the initial unevenness of the rail surface. Measurements have shown a reduction of 2.4 dB of the total rail noise.
